BCI Modern Day Warriors was founded by world renowned martial artist, Professor Ernie Boggs & Graciela Casillas and is recognized as one of the world’s leading schools of self-defense and personal development.

BCI is an elite martial arts training center whose staff is committed to delivering the best quality instruction to its students while maintaining a family atmosphere among its members. Students are taught traditional martial arts values as well as the latest in self-defense techniques.

Professor Boggs has 46 years of in depth martial arts training, largely under the guidance of legendary
masters as well as some of the world’s leading weapons and self-defense elite. He has achieved expert level in many combat systems, including 5th degree black belt in karate and 7th degree in jujitsu. He is considered one of the world’s leading combatives expert, specializing in edged weapons.

Professor Boggs has been inducted into multiple Martial Arts Hall of Fames and one of only five Americans ever to be inducted into the Pantheon Hall of Sports in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Boggs is a former middleweight world champion and the very first American to ever win a world title in jujitsu. He has also competed on the national and international circuit, excelling in traditional karate and professional kickboxing as well.

In a ten year span as the head coach of Team USA he produced twenty one world champions, sixteen junior world champions and domestically, forty four national champions. Under his leadership the United States became the first country to win the Team Competition at three consecutive world championships, proving to the world the superiority of a holistic approach to cross-training.

Prior to 1992 jujitsu competition did not have a fighting format that represented the art’s totality (striking, throwing and submission) and events all the way up to the world championship level were referred to as simply “jujitsu tournaments” excluding the term “sport” (i.e. WCJO World Jujitsu Championships, AAU National Jujitsu Championships, European Jiu-jitsu Championships, etc.). In the fall of 1992 Ernie Boggs and Graciela Casillas promoted the very first martial arts event (on an organized level for men, women, and children) that allowed kick, punch, throw and submission grappling in its fighting format. Karate events were often referred to as “sport karate” so Boggs suggested they follow suit with this new tournament fighting format and the term “Sport Jujitsu” was borne. This event took place in Nitro, West Virginia (USA) and pioneered a change in martial arts competition around the world, long before the term “MMA” was ever heard of.

He then became instrumental in establishing the International Sport Jujitsu Association (ISJA) and went on to introduce this new format internationally by hosting the 1996 ISJA Sport Jujitsu World Championships (also in West Virginia). This event drew over 1,200 competitors representing 16 different countries, setting an unprecedented record in jujitsu competition worldwide at that time. He is currently the ISJA chairman and considered the world’s leading authority on Sport Jujitsu.

Today Professor Ernie Boggs has students on four continents and has travelled to more than 26 countries sharing his knowledge. His goal is to teach all he can about the true meaning of the most misunderstood word in any language…warrior. He stresses the importance of embracing its ancient code, especially in these modern days.
